Component Vendors

These companies have Java components or applications that work well with the JDesignerPro development system. Using outside components is easy. Simply import the component and it will appear in the JDesignerPro Objects Tree ready for use as if it were built-in! Use them to enrich your JDesignerPro applications.

Components

Cloudscape, The Database for Java

Cloudscape The Cloudscape database is the first
100% Pure Java™ SQL database management system. It is designed to be invisibly embedded within applications as a local data manager. Cloudscape is a low-overhead, extensible object relational database for applications that are deployed over the Internet to the mobile, and occasionally connected workforce, customers, and partners. For server-side applications, Cloudscape provides a transactional local data store.

A trial of the Cloudscape database is now the default database in the UNIX trial version of JDesignerPro.

JFC from Sun Microsystems

The Java Foundation Classes(JFC) extend the original Abstract Windowing Toolkit (AWT). JFC is a comprehensive set of GUI elements that is completely portable and delivered as part of the Java platform. JFC will also include many of the key features found in Netscape's Internet Foundation Classes (IFC). Also see the JavaBeans Advisor.

Elements for Java from Neuron Data

Elements for Java enables the creation of large enterprise applications with high scalability. For instance, you can create a table or a grid that has more than one million rows and one million columns, each containing a different control, with no performance problems. Rather than using lightweight controls, Elements uses "virtual" or "no-weight" controls, resulting in no degradation in performance.

jKit/Grid from ObjectShare

jKit/Grid is a set of 100% Java components that provide powerful grid, table, and hierarchical table UIs for your JDesignerPro applets and applications. When you have UIs that your users expect, your applications will be easier to use and more polished. jKit/Grid tables include control of scroll bars, fonts, titles, colors, and formatting. They support single and multiple select modes, reordering and resizing by the user with mouse and cell editors for text, drop-down lists, value set, and more.

WinJ from ProtoView

WinJ, ProtoView's premier component library, offers developers a rich collection of JavaBeans. The WinJ Component Library provides professional developers with feature-rich controls that support over 70 user interface display options.

ProtoView

JClass from KL Group

JClass BWT is a collection of pre-built, pre-tested, 100% Java GUI components. Use them to develop stable Java applications faster and easier than ever before. Key features include over 20 premium GUI components for Java development. Consistent look and feel across all platforms Mixed font, multi-color text, image, and URL support.

The Java suite from Roguewave

Roguewave's Java suite offers Beans support and JDK 1.1 compatibility in a variety of Java libraries. You get customizable JavaBeans widgets and charting GUI components, foundation data structures complementing the JDK, and virtual streams to allow Java and C++ interoperability. Includes JWidgets, JChart, JTools, JMoney, and JFactory.

JDBC/CORBA and Infrastructure

OPENjdbc from I-Kinetics

OPENjdbc is a three-tier JDBC driver that is Java and IIOP on the client and pure CORBA on the server. OPENjdbc has a CORBA data server that provides open integration with CORBA and IIOP.

Use OPENjdbc to gain CORBA connectivity from the Enteprise Server-JDesignerPro's middle tier.

I-Kinetics also has a line of JDBC drivers for major RDBMS products.

Databases Supported by I-Kinetics Drivers:

DataBase WindowsNT Solaris HP/UX OS/390
Oracle Yes Yes Yes
Sybase Yes Yes Yes
Informix Yes Yes Yes
DB2/2 Yes* Yes* Yes*

OS390 - CICS       Yes
OS390 - IMS       Yes
OS390 - ADABAS       Yes
ODBC Datasources Yes Yes Yes

Yes* = support via ODBC and still faster than the native JDBC driver

Castanet from Marimba

Castanet distributes and maintains your JDesignerPro applications within an organization or across the Internet, ensuring subscribers always have the most up-to-date versions- automatically. Castanet includes three main components: Castanet Transmitter, Castanet channel and the Castanet Tuner.

Jprinter from Bristol

Jprinter provides a graphical printing solution across platforms for JDesignerPro applications. Provide the same sophisticated printing capabilities familiar to Windows users in Java applications across the enterprise. For non-Windows environments, Jprinter provides a consistent user interface, including the ability to select printers and set printer-specific features, without limiting your choice of platform.

The JavaBeans Site from Gamelan

Gamelan's Beans Listing. There are many other JavaBeans out there that may be used to enhance your JDesignerPro-built applications. JDesignerPro's open architecture for importing Beans and other components should handle almost any Java object. Take a look at the myriad Java components with interesting features.
